Sage University is pleased to introduce Jerry Karzen for Awareness through Movement. For over 30 years his work has greatly influenced our understanding of people and our approach to learning.  The Sage curriculum is rooted in a series of learning conferences with great scientists, psychologists and business leaders, including Illya Prigagene, Charles Spielberger and Jerry Karzen.

Jerry will conduct four days of movement training and demonstrate hands-on functional integration in October on Ibiza. This event is a rare and fortunate opportunity to participate with one of the finest practitioners of our age.

You will learn how to live more comfortably in your body. These few precious days will bring a whole new awareness and sense of ease to your life.

Jerry will examine your mind and body, and help you find new ways of seeing and new ways of being. You will breathe deeper, move easier, and connect more vividly to the world around you. You will also experience physical changes that will enhance your aliveness. As your body releases unconscious pain and numbness, your senses will awaken.

This event is a very different kind of Feldenkrais workshop, which includes ideas and applications that have intrigued Jerry Karzen for many years. He will be exploring harmonization of the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous Systems. The purpose of the human brain is self-regulation—creating order out of a constantly-changing internal and external environment.

This 4-day workshop is for coaches, trainers and health practitioners who see the value of modulating and harmonizing the fight or flight or panic/traumatic/frozen in place functions that are the governing dynamics of human behavior. You will learn to coordinate lower brain centers with the integrative, harmonizing higher brain centers of the nervous system.

The movement brain (motor cortex) is connected directly to muscles that produce specific movements. When muscle patterns become ingrained, or neglected through routine motion, the brain develops habitual, often painful patterns. By learning to activate those motor neurons, you will free the body and brain to work more effectively.

The Feldenkrais Awareness through Movement Method offers intelligent, gentle movements that stimulate and activate the brain. You can use some of these exercises over your lifetime to maintain flexibility. Others you have to perform only once to bring flexibility and comfort to the brain/body. As people become aware of physical limitations and deficiencies, they discover new patterns. Physical awareness allows the body to ‘forget’ the old habits. Symptoms disappear. Subtle improvements often bring about miraculous changes.
